Thought I would leave a review of this new to the market light having just bought, fitted and used it in pretty extreme condtions.
This light is very powerful and as you can imagine gives you all the light you need for riding the trails at night. Plenty of modes for all conditions coupled with the remote which makes is easty to change modes.
Build quality is very good and all components feel strong and sturdy. Battery is massive and heavy so keep that in mind and much bigger than the Monteer 6500 though. Light itself is also much bigger than the Monteer 6500.
Setup was very simple and coupling the bluetooth remote was very easy together with the App setup. No issues there.
Fitting the light bracket to the handlebars is fairly straight forward and the double clamp is sturdy and wide enough to cover any stem. One pretty major issue here though is there seems to be no quick release like on the Monteer 6500 so the light has to stay fixed on the handlebars which makes it inconvienient for daytime riding because you then have a cable to store plus when you wash the bike after a ride you have the cover the light with a plastic back to prevent it getting wet. I would like to see this addressed in a V2.
The other thing that bothered me was the battery is so heavy that when mounting it to the toptube (mine is angled) then despite doing the velcro straps up tight the battery soon slid down the toptube and wedged itself bewteen the top of the shock and the toptube. This ended up damaging the battery case anbd I was lucky that it did not damage the bike. Better to keep the battery in a different place imo so I have used a toptube iphone storage bag instead and cut holes for the battery cable to go through the side of the bag. Something to consider if you are going to buy.
On the whole and despite the above this light has plenty of power and duration for long night rides and I am pleased with it. I just think the V2 can address the quick release issue.
A couple of other issues were during the buying process. The website said the light was in stock when it wasnt and I have to wait 2 weeks to get it. This really needs to be more up to date. If the light is not in stock then state as much. This aside when contacting Magicshine they were reasonably responsive to info requests giving me basic updates when asked. Also the website itself is pretty basic and needs an overhaul. It does not work very well on phones and is also pretty clunky and slow in a browser.
I really love the Magic shine lights and have ordered more for my night rides. I am only knocking off 1 star for the issues I have had with this process. I hope this review is useful.
